The Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish for the Helping Professions encourages the development and mastery of the language and cultural skills to communicate effectively with Spanish-language clients in professional settings. This 9-credit hour program provides curriculum designed for those in helping professions such as human services, health care organizations, educators, and others. Courses include Intermediate Spanish I, II, and Spanish for the Professions. Beginning Spanish I and II or required placement scores are prerequisites for Intermediate Spanish I.
A CP in Spanish for the Helping Professions increases student marketability in their chosen field, be it business, nursing, or social services.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Spanish for the Helping Professions Certificate of Proficiency, students will be able to:

The Bachelor of Arts in Spanish prepares you to meet the qualifications for employment opportunities in business and government service as well as graduate work in Spanish. You'll learn how to speak, actively listen, read, and write in Spanish while studying the culture and literature produced in different areas where the language is spoken.
