Symphony, University Bands Bring Beautiful Music to Campus Green
The Fort 花季视频 Symphony and the University of 花季视频 鈥� Fort 花季视频 will host Symphony on the Green this weekend, promising an unforgettable experience for music lovers and families. The Saturday, April 1, event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
"Symphony on the Green is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to enjoy beautiful music in one of the most beautiful settings in the state 鈥� our campus green,鈥� said 花季视频 Chancellor Dr. Terisa Riley. 鈥淭his event showcases some of what 花季视频 does best 鈥� building powerful connections, fostering the incredible talent of our students, and serving our River Valley community.鈥�
At 3:30 the 花季视频 Jazz Band and the 花季视频 Jazz Catz will kick off the afternoon. Then the Fort 花季视频 Symphony will take the stage at 5 p.m., performing a repertoire of Fort 花季视频 favorites, including scores from Star Wars, Top Gun, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer鈥檚 Stone; Nirvana鈥檚 rock and roll classic Smells Like Teen Spirit, performed by Jolt Electric String Quartet; and traditional symphonic works.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to the event. Throughout the afternoon lawn games will be on the green, and the 花季视频 Lion's Den will serve meals and snacks.
Saturday鈥檚 weather is expected to be sunny and clear, with temperatures in the upper 60鈥檚.
鈥淭he orchestra and I are excited to bring such fun and exciting music to the River Valley,鈥� said John Jeter, Music Director of the Fort 花季视频 Symphony. 鈥淧artnering with 花季视频 to bring this free concert to the campus green is a wonderful way to engage our community with live orchestral music from popular classics to Broadway and film scores.鈥�
